Position Description
The City of Tolleson is seeking a skilled and dependable Trades Technician (Mechanic) to join our team. This position performs a variety of mechanical and maintenance tasks in support of the City's fleet, equipment, and facilities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent diagnostic skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
The Trades Technician (Mechanic) performs skilled mechanical work in the repair, maintenance, and operation of City vehicles, heavy equipment, and grounds equipment. This role is responsible for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; completing routine to semi-complex repairs; and performing welding, fabrication, and advanced electronic work, including support for public safety vehicles. The position also maintains accurate work orders, follows established safety practices, manages parts inventory, and keeps the shop clean and organized. Ongoing training is encouraged to stay current with new technologies. Other related duties may be assigned based on the needs of the City.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by college and/or technical , supplemented by 2 years of specialized training and 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Must have a Valid Arizona Class B Driver's License. ASE Certifications 609 Refrigerant Handling Certification highly desired.

Physical Demands
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.
Job Information
Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $26.60-$31.92 Hourly D.O.E.
